It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but maybe not for your skin.
If you live in one of the temperate zones you know when fall and winter arrive the sun sets early (in Chicago at 4:30!), the air starts to chill and dry out skin, and we become busy with holiday shopping and family gatherings. It’s the time of year, for us also to tune into ourselves and listen to what our bodies need. Winter brings less moisture into the air, and our skin tends to get dry, irritated and inflamed, but I am here to give you a few tips and share my personal evening skincare ritual with you!
In the winter skin tends to be dry and easily irritated, I usually cleanse with Bonnie’s Cleansing Balm and Moisture Mask in the in evening to remove debris and makeup from a busy day at Lena Rose! Bonnie’s Cleansing Balm and Moisture Mask is a solid balm and transforms into a smooth milk when mixed with water that dissolves makeup, debris, and oil, leaving skin luxuriously soft and resilient against the elements. This balm is also rich in Vitamins A, D and E to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This balm is the total package!
2. Tone + Hydrate
My favorite product for toning is the Rose Toner by Apoterra because it not only smells amazing, but it also packs a serious vitamin rich punch! Anti-aging and hydrating Rose Water, clarifying Rooibos Tea, calming Aloe Vera, and a skin strengthening frankincense hydrosol and much more make this toner a star product at Lena Rose! Apoterra’s Rose toner also contains a low molecular weight and vegan hyaluronic acid that sinks deeply into the skin and brings water to the surface. This toner should be a part of any daytime and evening skincare ritual!
In the evening I like to use the Night Regenerative Balm by Apoterra after cleansing and generously misting my face with Rose Toner (never enough toner!). I’ll use the balm all over my face, neck and décolletage. This balm is made with Cupuacu Butter (also in Bonnie’s Cleansing Balm), which is an amazing butter that helps the skin to retain water and stay hydrated and reduce the degradation of skin cells. It’s no wonder my skin feels so baby soft! The Night Regenerative Balm also contains Sea Buckthorn, Vitamin C, CoQ10, Shea Butter, Turmeric, Rosehip Oil, and so many other great ingredients that help the skin repair and regenerate at night to give you the best glow possible!
1-3x per week, your skin might need something a little extra to stay clear and healthy. I love Bonnie’s Pore Refining Mask as a skin treatment to help promote collagen renewal, extract excess impurities, and improve overall skin texture and refine my pores. This mask contains antioxidant rich ingredients like Kaolin Clay and Willow Bark to renew and deliver potent, natural love to your skin.
This is one of my favorite ways to treat and protect my skin during the winter months, plus it’s always nice to treat yourself to a little self-care! A facial is an incredible way to give your skin all the lovin’ it needs and to kick start new regimens and skincare goals for the New Year! A facial can help harmonize your skin against the elements and help your body to relax and unwind from all the holiday stress. Facials are recommended every 4-6 weeks to aid with any skin concerns or personal goals you might have and every 8 weeks once you achieve results. Believe me, your mind, body and spirit will be ever so grateful you showed yourself some well-deserved TLC! Please stop into Lena Rose with any and all skin concerns or questions, as I would love to help you achieve your best skin possible.
